Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is a caucus?
A: A caucus is "a group of people united to promote an agreed-upon cause." We think that's a great explanation for what we are and what we seek to accomplish. We are educators and members of WVEA, AFT-WV, and WVSSPA. We are united to promote our principles.
Q: What do you believe?
A: Please check out our core principles here.
Q: Are you trying to be a new union?
A: Absolutely not! We are all proud members of our respective organizations, and we believe that strong unions are essential in giving workers a voice.
Q: I'm already a member of AFT-WV, WVEA, or WVSSPA. Why should I join WV United?
A: First of all, thank you so much for being a union member! We believe our schools are strongest when their teachers are members of an education organization. WV United is for those union members who want to continue our fight from the winter/spring. We want to work together across all of our unions to push for a real fix for PEIA, fight for better salaries, and advocate for more funding for our students, their schools, and their communities.
Q: Who can become a "member" of WV United?
A: Any teacher or service personnel (or retired education employee) who is a member of WVEA, AFT-WV, or WVSSPA. Not a union member yet? Sign up at wv.aft.org, wvea.org, or wvsspa.org today!
